Byd Mary Jones World
This award-winning visitor centre allows you to discover the story of the historic Mary Jones, and the impact the world’s best selling book had on Wales, the World and beyond. It sits on the edge of Lake Bala with picnic areas and a children’s playground. It’s a brilliant day out for all the family.
Bala Adventure and Watersports
At Bala Adventure and Watersports centre you will be invited by the adventure and excitement of outdoor pursuits, suitable for individuals, groups and even schools. Whether you’re a beginner or highly experienced you’ll be guaranteed to have a fantastic time. Experience windsurfing, canoeing/kayaking, climbing/absailing, sailing, archery, camp craft, raft building, mountain biking and many many more. Why not experience something new, and give it a try!
Bala Lake Railway
This narrow gauge steam train will transport you back along this delightful 9 mile journey through the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. The trains run most days from now until the end of September. There are also lots of special events, one being the June Steam Gala which takes place 15th – 16th June 2019. This is their biggest railway event of the year which has an increased passenger service but not forgetting a full steam fleet in operation including guest locomotives. So why not hop on and take in the surrounding scenery this summer.
Get the adrenaline pumping with the fastest zip line in the world! Now with 4 lines instead of 2 and reaching speeds up to 125mph, you will definitely feel the rush. Bounce Below at Zip World will unleash your inner thrill-seeker in its enormous underground net adventure. In this disused mine discover the best playground ever (not just for children either!). Zip world have a few locations including Fforest, Slate Caverns and Penrhyn Quarry, which offer a wide variety of activities. This summer, Zip World host their very first music festival Zip Roc on 15th June 2019. With a great location and views, enjoy the great live music, food and drink that’s on offer.
Why not try out Snowdonia’s unique walking challenge. The challenge is in its third year which involves a 3 day walking challenge, the only one of its kind in the UK. The challenge requires commitment and determination as it’s not for the faint hearted. You will walk 100km in total over 3 days starting from 28th June 2019.
Open Climb Snowdon
If the walking challenge is too much for you why not go on one of the many guided walks offered by Open Climb Snowdon, which will allow you to take in the breathtaking scenery without the need to be fit. The walk starts from Snowdon Mountain Railway and is 9 miles in total. They have at least one guided tour a month so you’ll be sure to catch it.
