Fishing, Wildlife & Insects at Caravan Parks Snowdonia, Bala

Conservation

Explore the wonders of our private woodland with fascinating wildlife and insects

Our premier Holiday Home Park has been graded with Five Stars by Visit Wales. We are a David Bellamy Gold Award holder for conservation which we are proud to say have held for 18 consecutive years. The park is set in a stunning and entirely natural 43 acres of private woodland and lies in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Palé Wood Holiday Park is right on the edge of world famous Snowdonia National Park and the Dee Valley – and features the very best of both locations.

Environment & Working with Nature

Palé Wood contains 34 acres of woodland, accented with numerous pathways for delightful walks. The remainder of our private woodland is left for the varying trees and wildflowers which provides a habitat for wildlife local to the region.

We strive to work with, not against, nature and also to minimise our impact on the environment around us. We have recycling facilities for glass, metal and cans, newspapers, magazines, cardboard and plastics.

Palé Wood only uses rainwater- and we actively recycle our water to water our summer hanging baskets and flower tubs around the park. Our hedges, hedgerows and banks are cut carefully once a year, and then left to develop their cycle of growth for the many species of wild flowers, butterflies and bees which make their homes within them.

Birds, Bees & Butterflies

Palé Wood Holiday Park is a haven for wild birds. We encourage all of our holiday home owners to put up bird boxes and feeders, and we are delighted to report that their efforts are rewarded with many of the bird boxes provided nesting a family of birds on a yearly basis.

Red Kites, Buzzards, Sparrow Hawks and Kestrels are regularly spotted soaring above our beautiful park, but that’s not all you can expect to see here. We also feature a large amount of bat boxes around the park for the many bats we have in residence.

Our butterfly and bee gardens are sympathetically planted with bee friendly plants, such as: Hebes, Lavender, Poppies, Johnson Blue Geraniums, Roses, Berberis and Potentilla plants.

We are pleased to give all our holiday home owners their very own packet of Bee Friendly seeds to encourage them to make their own bee or butterfly garden in a pot.

Fishing, Wildlife & Insects

We have an expansive (and quite frankly, quite pretty!) course fishing pool for our fishermen, which is well stocked all year around with varying fish such as Roach, Rudd, Bream, Tench, Mirror and Crution Carp, as well as Common Carp which can weigh up to 10lb.

Our fishing pool, completely private woodland environment and (of course!) the park itself attracts a great many species of wildlife and insects– and some are a little harder to spot than the other, but all creatures, great and small, have a home here at Palé Wood Holiday Park.
