Summer is here and I’m sure plenty of your will be making your way over to your holiday home this season for the summer holidays. Whilst the area surrounding us is known and much-loved for its secluded and tranquil location, there are still opportunities for entertaining days out in Bala if you feel like doing something a bit different.
Get Wet the Adventure Company
An incredibly quick three minute drive (or a 30 minute walk) will take you to Get Wet The Adventure Company. This centre offers huge range of fun activities, including gorge walking, paintballing, karting and stand up paddle boarding.
The Get Wet paintballing area is set in acres of private woodland, with three separate paintball zones to enjoy during the 3-hour long paintball sessions. Each session requires a minimum of six participants, so you may have to gather a team up for this activity.
The National White Water Centre
Bala is the home of the National White Water Centre, where visitors can enjoy a range of activities, including whitewater rafting and kayaking. The watersports take place on the River Tryweryn, which has dam-controlled water levels to ensure that the rapids are still as powerful as ever during the summer months.
The centre also offers a canyoning activity, which involves scrambling, climbing and swimming through a powerful gorge – definitely not for the faint hearted!
If you’ve got a moment to take your attention away from the choppy rapids, you’ll experience fantastic views of the surrounding welsh woodlands. This type of activity can still be enjoyed even if the weather isn’t great, making it a reliable choice for these often rainy spring months here in Bala.
The white water centre is incredibly close to our holiday park, being only a 15 minute drive away.
Bala Lake Railway
The Bala Lake Railway will transport you back to the early 1900s, with its narrow gauge steam trains which take their visitors on a 9 mile journey alongside Bala Lake.
You’ll begin your journey at Llanuwchllyn, which has regular train links into the quaint market town of Bala. This train station offer free car parking, a buffet, toilets and picnic tables if you feel like stopping to have a bit of lunch.
During the hour long round trip, you can stop at any of the stations along the way if there is something you’d like to see. At the Llangower station, there is access to the shore of Bala Lake. During the summer months, it’s a great place for swimming, fishing or simply relaxing by the shore.
The primary Llanuwchllyn station is a 20-25 minute drive from the holiday park.
