Stopping at a luxury holiday park in Snowdonia offers you a chance to relax, unwind and visit local events within the area this winter.

Bala

For guests of Palé Wood, Bala is a 10 minute drive (or 20 minute walk) away from the holiday park. This historic town has retained its traditional charm, and is situated next to Bala Lake. This lake is popular for sailing, boating and windsurfing activities.

The Bala Lake Railway is a great day out for both adults and children, and especially for fans of traditional locomotives. This railway uses old-fashioned narrow gauge locomotives, and takes visitors to and from Bala and Llanuwchllyn.

This December, the railway will be hosting a festive event for children. On December 10th & 11th, Santa Claus will be visiting Bala Lake Railway. The trains will be towed by two of their steam locomotives, which have been suitably decorated for the occasion.

Departing from Llanuwchllyn Station, the trains will arrive at Santa’s Grotto. Upon arrival, children can meet Santa and will receive a small gift. Booking in advance for this weekend is essential in order to avoid disappointment. Prices for this event range from £7.50 to £8.50.

Betws y Coed

In Betws y Coed, the 5k and 10k Trail Challenge is returning for its 3rd year on November 12th. The trail this year is in support of the charity Help for Heroes.

If you’re interesting in getting fit and raising some money for a good cause, entries are still being accepted for the trail. Even if you don’t plan on running, you can visit as a spectator and show encouraging support for the entrants.

Visiting the trail challenge also gives you a chance to have a look around the beautiful village of Betws y Coed. Packed with mountaineering shops and cosy cafes, it’s a great place to explore for the day.
