As winter approaches all we want to do is burrow deep into our duvets and surround ourselves with cosiness. There’s no shame though in keeping yourself snuggly and warm and we have even put together a list of tips to help you stay cosy this winter.

Your Decor

Surround yourself with warm and bright colours

Whilst you settle down in the evenings and catch up with those books that you didn’t quite get around to in summer make sure that you are surrounded by bright and warm colours.

Neutral colours or camel tones such as beige, chestnut and even ochre and terracotta will turn up the heat in your home. With warm surroundings, it will be hard to leave.

Surround yourself with soft furnishings

To level up your cosiness make sure you surround yourself in soft furnishings. These include pillows, throws, blankets, rugs and curtains. When choosing your decor for the winter period, plush fabrics such as velvet, faux furs, wool and fleece provide warmth and cosiness. So light a few candles, put on a good film and your winter evening is complete. The only danger though is that you may never leave the sofa again!

Lighting and candles

Lighting and candles play a key part in your room’s ambience. Using warm white light bulbs will instantly add warmth to your holiday home. As the festive season is on the way, what better than to add a few fairy lights too to add a festive sparkle.

All of our senses are important this time of the season so scented candles are also a hit in wintertime. Opt for warm smells such as cinnamon and berries. Not only will the smell give you a snuggly environment but the flicker of the light will too!

What else can you do?

stew

Home cooked comforts

Nothing beats home-cooked comforts such as winter stews, soups and casseroles. So dig out your old family’s recipes or try something new. ‘Tis the season for indulgence after all.

mulled wine

Hot drinks

This season is best served hot! Whether you are fond of a brew or not hot drinks are a must this time of year. Almost any drink can be made hot including blackcurrant juice.

Of course, it’s not winter without mulled wine and mulled cider. This doesn’t only have to be available at your favourite Christmas market though.  Why not fill your home with the aromas by making your own.

bath

Bubble baths

After a day of exploring in the bitter cold air outside, why not treat yourself to a luxury bubble bath. Relax there with a good book, candles, your favourite festive tunes and maybe even a glass of mulled wine.
